Bengaluru: The Bengaluru police are on the lookout for a man, identified as Upendra Kumar Bhaduriya, for sending wrong interview dates by creating a fake ID of the Army Selection Centre.
As many as 200 candidates who had been short-listed for interviews for various jobs in the Army, Navy, and Air Force missed their interview dates due to this. Lt. Col. S. Choudhary, Call-on officer of the Commandant, Selection Centre South, situated on Cubbon Road, filed a complaint with the police.
According to the complaint, the centre had short-listed as many as 499 candidates in August and sent mails from the official ID to the selected candidates to appear for the interview. A person, later identified as Upendra Kumar Bhaduriya from Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, managed to procure the list of candidates’ details and sent mails to them from a fake ID similar to the official ID, stating that the scheduled interview was postponed and gave them new dates.
As a result, the officials of the selection centre received only 299 candidates out of the expected 499 and the interview process was completed.
The scam came to light when the remaining candidates walked into the centre on the specified date. Army officials conducted a probe and identified the culprit and asked the police to track him down.
