Bengaluru: Member of Parliament Shobha Karandlaje has said that actor/politician Jaggesh had no connection to the Yeshwanthpur Assembly constituency.

Addressing the media on Saturday, November 16 she said, “Jaggesh has no relation to the Yeshwanthpur Assembly constituency as he has no constituency of his own. Earlier, he was contesting from the Turuvekere constituency on the Congress ticket. He had later joined the BJP. In the 2018 Assembly election, Jaggesh had contested from the Yeshwanthpur constituency and ended third in the vote share with only 59, 308 votes, while Congress’ S T Somashekhar had received 1,15,273 votes.”

“Jaggesh was given a ticket by the BJP because we had no candidates left at the last minute to contest from Yeshwanthpur. He had not toiled enough in the constituency and campaigned less. If he works for the party, it will be helpful for the party to put up a show in all the constituencies,” she added.

Shobha opined that S T Someshekhar’s joining the BJP would boost the confidence of the party and that the party would definitely emerge victorious in the Yeshwanthpur segment.

Meanwhile, Jaggesh, after meeting Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa at his residence, has said, “BSY has directed all of us to work for the party. We have no expectations from the party and will work as its ‘soldiers’. We will also help the party win in the upcoming by-polls.”

“Because we want BSY to continue as the chief minister, we will unitedly work for S T Somashekhar’s victory,” he added.
