Over 200 volunteers from Youth For Parivarthan (YFP), in partnership with BBMP, transformed a 200-metre stretch at Kadirenahalli Underpass in Bengaluru South, turning a neglected, garbage-filled space into a tribute to national icons.

For years, piles of waste and construction debris had blocked the footpath, forcing pedestrians onto the busy road. Volunteers cleared trash, repainted walls, and restored pathways, making the area safer and more accessible.

A key highlight of the revamp is a series of murals featuring India’s greatest visionaries, including Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, Sir M Visvesvaraya, Dr Rajkumar, Kuvempu, Swami Vivekananda, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Shankar Nag, and Dr BR Ambedkar. “These portraits symbolize the values of hard work, courage, and service, inspiring passersby daily,” said YFP President Amith Amarnath.

The collaboration between volunteers, civic authorities, and corporate partners underscored the power of community-driven initiatives in revitalizing urban spaces. Residents welcomed the transformation, praising it as a restoration of civic pride. “It’s not just a cleanup—it’s a statement of what we stand for,” said a local shopkeeper.
