Bengaluru: In an embarassment to the Congress party, one of its youth leaders, who also happens to be the son of Congress MLA N A Haris has been accused of assaulting a man brutally at a city restaurant and later threatening him at the hospital where he was admitted.
Reportedly, the accused Mohammad Nalapad had gotten into a verbal spat with the victim, identified as Vidyut over a petty issue where after he and ten others brutally assaulted the latter. Later, the gang is even said to have threatened Vidyut at the Mallya hospital where he was amitted for treatment.
The police have lodged an FIR in connection to the case and are questioning the restaurant owner and other people who were there at the time of the incident.
Nalapad, who was was appointed the general secretary of the youth Congress in May 2017 has been suspended from the party for six years.
Notably, Nalapad’s brother Umar too was accused of assaulting a man outside a pub in Shantinagar area earlier in 2016. However the pub owner said that Umar was not involved in the incident. No case was filed in this case.
