In a tragic road rage incident in Northern Bengaluru, a 21-year-old delivery boy named Mahesh was killed on Wednesday night. According to the Vidyaranyapura police, Mahesh was knocked down by car-borne assailants following a minor traffic accident. The incident occurred between 7:30 pm and 8 pm near GKVK.

Mahesh, a resident of Nanjappa Circle in Vidyaranyapura, was riding his bike with friends Balaji and Likith when a car, identified by registration number KA 02 MU 4824, began honking aggressively for the way to pass. When Mahesh did not yield, the car collided with the bike. Despite the minor damage, the car’s driver, Aravind, pursued Mahesh for nearly a kilometer. In a fit of rage, Aravind rammed the bike from behind, causing Mahesh to be thrown into the air and hit an electric pole and a compound wall.

Mahesh, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered fatal head injuries and died on the spot. Balaji and Likith sustained minor injuries after jumping off the bike to avoid the collision. The police have detained Aravind, a private bank employee, and his friend Channakeshav, who have been subjected to interrogation. Both the car and bike have been seized.

A case has been registered under section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and the investigation is ongoing. Aravind and Channakeshav claim they were out to buy milk at the time of the incident.
