Bengaluru: A Nepali national who died in a freak accident in the city two days ago turned out to be a bike lifter.
On early hours of July 25, Deepak Thapa, was crushed under a Tamilnadu state-run bus near Wilson Garden area after he lost control over his bike.
Soon he was rushed to nearby hospital by the bus staff but in vain.
Police found that he was a citizen of Nepal who had come to city in search of job. With no job in hand, Thapa soon took to bike lifting, which earned him good money.
Police had tough time to identify his whereabouts and finally approached Nepali association on wild guess. It yielded good results and police could trace his family.
When police contacted his brother, he refused to claim the body and had told them to bury him away in Bengaluru.
This miffed the police, who went deeper into the case. While probing the case, the police found that Deepak was a bike lifter who was operating from Hosur, Tamilnadu.
However, police are in search of the ‘kingpin’ who is running “bike theft” company.
