
Zepto Delivery Agent Booked After Violent Assault on Bengaluru Customer
A delivery-related dispute in Bengaluru’s Basaveshwara Nagar turned violent on May 21, when a Zepto delivery agent allegedly assaulted a customer, leaving him injured. The altercation, captured on CCTV and widely circulated online, has sparked public outrage and raised concerns over customer safety.
The incident occurred around 2 PM outside a residence in Judges Colony. According to reports, the delivery executive, identified as Vishnuvardhan, arrived at the home of 30-year-old businessman Shashank S Shivaprakash and began arguing with his sister-in-law over an address discrepancy. When Shashank intervened, the situation escalated.
The CCTV footage shows Vishnuvardhan shouting, punching Shashank multiple times, and issuing verbal threats. Despite Shashank attempting to walk away, the agent allegedly blocked his path and continued the assault, reportedly issuing a death threat before leaving.
Shashank later sought treatment at Narayana Nethralaya in Rajajinagar for injuries to his eye. His wife accompanied him during the hospital visit.
Police have booked the delivery agent under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including:
- 115(2) – Voluntarily causing hurt
- 126(2) – Criminal intimidation
- 351(2) – Assault
- 352 – Punishment for assault
Authorities have also issued a notice to Zepto, requesting complete details of the accused to aid the investigation.
Zepto’s Response:
A company spokesperson stated that the matter is under internal review and that Zepto is cooperating fully with law enforcement. They emphasized that such behavior violates company policy and strict action will follow.
