Bidar: BJP leader and former Union Minister Bhagwanth Khuba has launched a strong attack against Eshwar B Khandre, Minister in charge of Bidar district, accusing him of promoting “hate politics“ and creating a climate of fear through the misuse of police and administrative powers.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Khuba claimed that false cases are being filed against leaders from various social groups and organisations, allegedly at the behest of Minister Khandre. He further alleged that deportation notices are being issued against dissenters to silence criticism.
Khuba compared the current atmosphere in Bidar to the Emergency period of 1975, saying: “For the past two years, there has been lawlessness in Bidar – daylight murders, extortion, and illegal activities such as gambling, bio-diesel trade, and rice smuggling, all happening under political protection.”
He alleged that those who raise their voice or protest against such activities are targeted: “Within 100 days, false cases are filed, old cases are revived, and the local police are used to intimidate them — often at night.”
Khuba claimed that even individuals once close to Khandre are now facing fabricated charges and forced deportations. He said several people had shared their distress with him after receiving notices.
The BJP leader also criticized the suppression of media in Bidar, stating that journalists were discouraged from reporting thefts and shootouts — including a recent case involving ₹90 lakh. “Instead of going after the real culprits, police are acting on political directions to deport innocent citizens,” he said.
Khuba has raised the issue with Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Home Minister G Parameshwara, urging them to take note and act.
He concluded by demanding an immediate review of all deportation orders, an end to political vendetta, and a crackdown on criminal activities in the district.
