Father murders daughter for refusing to accept marriage proposal

In a gruesome act of violence, an 18-year-old girl was brutally murdered by her father in Karnataka’s Bidar district after she declined to marry a suitor of his choice. The shocking crime occurred around 3 PM on Friday in Aurad taluka, police confirmed. The accused, identified as Motiram, has been taken into custody.

Authorities revealed that the victim had been in a relationship with a boy from her own caste. Last month, she had eloped with him, prompting her parents to file a complaint. Police later located the couple, returned the girl to her family, and the relationship eventually ended. However, the father reportedly faced societal humiliation due to the incident.

On Friday, when he once again pressured her to marry, she firmly refused, stating she had no intention of marrying anyone. Enraged by her defiance, he allegedly struck her with a wooden stick, inflicted a severe head injury, and strangled her with a rope, leading to her tragic death.

At the time of the crime, the victim’s mother was away fetching water. Upon discovering the incident, authorities registered a murder case at Santhpur police station and swiftly arrested the father.
