Sira : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers staged a protest and burned an effigy of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday in response to his comments on reservation policies. The demonstration took place at Ambedkar Circle in Shira, led by former Fiber Development Board Chairman BK Manjunath.
Manjunath defended the BJP’s commitment to reservation, stating that it will remain in place as long as the party is in power. He accused Congress of spreading false information and criticised Rahul Gandhi’s remarks as exposing his “true colours.” Manjunath labelled the Congress party as “anti-Dalit” and urged the public to remain vigilant.
The protest saw active participation from BJP leaders and workers, who chanted slogans against Gandhi and the Congress party. This demonstration highlights the rising tensions between the BJP and Congress over reservation policies. The BJP’s response aims to reinforce its stance on reservation and challenge the Congress’s narrative.
The protest underscores the contentious nature of reservation policies in India. The BJP’s vigorous reaction reflects its strategy to safeguard its support among marginalized communities amid ongoing political debates.
