Chikkaballapur: A resident of Sidlaghatta has become the latest victim of online fraud, losing a staggering sum of rs 19 lakh to scammers who promised him lucrative income from home. The victim fell prey to the fraudulent scheme after being approached by a caller and being added to a Telegram group.
The fraudsters allegedly claimed that the victim could earn a hefty commission by taking up ticket booking work from home, and convinced him to invest in the scheme. The victim, identified as Laxman, reported that he was guided by the suspects in the process of investing the money, but ultimately found out that it was a well-planned fraud.
Following the unfortunate turn of events, Laxman lodged a complaint with the CEN police in the city, urging authorities to take legal action against the fraudsters.
