Amid a fresh uptick in Covid-19 cases across Karnataka, Chikkaballapur reported four new infections, while Belagavi added one more case on Friday.

According to District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Mahesh Kumar, the new cases in Chikkaballapur include two pregnant women—one each from Gouribidanur and Bagepalli—along with one patient each from Chintamani and Chikkaballapur town.

“The pregnant woman from Gouribidanur has been hospitalised, while the others have recovered,” the DHO confirmed.

With monsoon clouds looming, the DHO advised caution as seasonal illnesses like fever, cold, and cough are on the rise. He urged people to avoid self-medication and consult doctors promptly.

“Wearing masks in crowded places is a simple yet effective preventive measure,” he added.

In Belagavi, the Covid tally reached four cases after a 72-year-old tested positive at a private hospital. This follows the death of a 70-year-old patient at BIMS on Thursday, who was admitted with severe respiratory issues. Currently, three cases remain active in the district, with one fatality reported.

Health authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have reminded citizens to remain vigilant and follow basic Covid-appropriate behaviour.
