A heartbreaking incident unfolded near Kambattanahalli village during the Diwali festivities, resulting in the drowning of three individuals who had come to visit relatives. The victims, identified as Ranjith (27), Ramya (24), and Abhilash (21), decided to take a swim in a local pond following a family lunch. Unbeknownst to them, the pond’s depth posed a serious risk, leading to their tragic drowning.
Local residents and fire department personnel quickly responded to the emergency. Their prompt actions enabled the retrieval of the victims’ bodies, which were later transported to the mortuary at Chikkaballapur District Hospital.
The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Peresandra police station, where authorities have initiated a preliminary investigation to understand the circumstances leading to this tragedy. Officials are urging the public to exercise caution in similar situations, highlighting the critical importance of water safety awareness, particularly during festive gatherings when celebrations can sometimes lead to oversight of potential hazards.
