A 20-year-old youth, employed at a fuel station in Mylapanahalli village, Chikkaballapur taluk, was found dead by suicide on Saturday. The deceased, identified as Yeshwanth from Bapuji Nagar in Chikkaballapur town, is believed to have taken his own life by hanging inside the petrol pump office.
According to reports, Yeshwanth had dinner with his family before heading out for his night shift at the bunk, where he often stayed overnight. The next morning, when the station owner Varun Gowda tried calling him to open the facility for business, there was no response.
Alarmed, Varun rushed to the location and was shocked to find Yeshwanth hanging inside the premises. The discovery has left the community stunned.
His grieving parents raised concerns about possible harassment faced by their son and initially obstructed the ambulance transporting his body. However, police officials intervened and persuaded them to file a formal complaint after reviewing the available CCTV footage.
The Chikkaballapur Rural police promptly arrived at the scene, initiated an investigation, and have registered a case to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding Yeshwanth’s death.
This tragic incident has cast a shadow over the town, prompting questions about workplace mental health and support systems for young workers.
