Courts in Chikkamagaluru, especially in the Mudigere region, are coming down hard on traffic offenders, particularly targeting two-wheeler violations. In recent rulings, fines as steep as ₹14,000 to ₹25,000 have been imposed to set a strong precedent.

One such case involved a rider who was caught on June 2 during a routine check by sub-inspector Srinath Reddy and his team on MG Road. The individual was found riding a two-wheeler without a helmet, valid driving licence, pollution certificate, or necessary vehicle documents. A report was submitted to the court, which subsequently imposed a penalty of ₹14,000 on the rider.

In another instance, the Mudigere court slapped a ₹25,000 fine on a vehicle owner who had allowed a minor to ride a scooter in Bapu Nagar. The incident sparked support from the local community, who commended the strict legal action and called for continuous enforcement.

Villagers have raised further concerns, pointing out that underage driving remains rampant in the rural areas of Chikkamagaluru. Complaints also emerged about the piercing noise of horns on private buses, with residents like Shivakumar urging authorities to address the issue.

The crackdown sends a clear message—road safety will not be compromised, and violators will face stringent consequences.
