Banakal, Chikkamagaluru: Four people were killed in an accident near Banakal in Mudigere taluk on Saturday.
A MESCOM lorry collided with an Omni van, and the Alto car behind it hit the Omni van. Four of the occupants of the Omni and Alto car died, they were traveling from Dharmasthala to Holalkere. The MESCOM lorry was going from Mudigere to Kottigehara.
.The deceased have been identified as Prema (58), Hampayya (65), Manjayya (60) and Prabhakar (45) from Channapatna near Chikkajajur in Holalkere taluk. The injured were immediately taken to the Mudigere MGM Hospital for first aid and then shifted to Mangalore for further treatment.
The police visited the spot and conducted an investigation. A case has been registered at the Banakal police station.
