Legislative Council member C.T. Ravi has expressed concerns over the celebration of Ganeshotsava, asserting that despite Hindus constituting 80% of the population, the festival is not being celebrated peacefully. He accused the Congress government of creating a troubling environment in the state.

Speaking to journalists, Ravi claimed that the Congress party’s support for certain groups has escalated tensions. He questioned the secular policies of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, asking, “Is Siddaramaiah’s secular policy one that leads to stones and petrol bombs being thrown during Ganeshotsava?” He suggested that extremist elements feel emboldened with each Congress administration.

Ravi also addressed remarks made by Zameer Ahmed regarding the hoisting of the Palestinian flag, questioning its relevance in India. “What is the connection between people here and Palestine? Flying that flag could make it difficult for you to display the Indian flag,” he said, adding that he believes Sharia law impedes the expression of patriotic sentiments like “Vande Mataram.”
