A wild elephant attacked a farmer on Sunday morning at his coffee plantation near Hukkunda village in Chikkamagalurudistrict. Narayan Gowda, who was sleeping while guarding coffee beans drying in the field, was suddenly lifted by the elephant’s trunk and thrown aside.
Fortunately, Gowda landed on a pile of hay, which cushioned his fall, allowing him to escape with only minor injuries. He was promptly taken to a hospital for treatment.
Local residents quickly alerted the Forest Department, which responded immediately and took the necessary steps. However, with increasing instances of wild elephant encounters in the region, villagers have voiced concerns and called for the relocation of elephants to more suitable areas to prevent further incidents.
