In a decisive operation, Shiralkoppa police raided an unauthorized slaughterhouse in Chikkajambur village, seizing 200 kilograms of beef and arresting one individual, authorities reported on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off, PSI Prashant Kumar led the operation, uncovering illicit cattle slaughter at the site. Investigations revealed that the facility was operating without proper authorization.
The apprehended individual was presented before a local court and has been remanded to judicial custody for a fortnight, according to Shivamogga SP Mithun Kumar.
This incident underscores the ongoing issue of illegal slaughterhouses in the region. Similar operations have been conducted in other areas, such as Mangaluru, where police raided an unauthorized slaughterhouse in Valachhil, seizing 180 kilograms of beef and arresting three individuals.
Authorities continue to monitor and act against such unlawful activities to ensure compliance with legal standards and public health regulations.
