In a heartfelt gesture, Chikkamagaluru district in-charge minister K.J. George paid a visit to the family of Anil Pais, 50, a resident of Bilukoppa, who lost his life after a tree branch fell on him near Balehonnur a few days ago. The minister conveyed his sympathy to the grieving family and handed over a relief cheque of ₹5 lakh, provided through the deputy commissioner’s office.

George emphasized that no amount of money can equate to the loss of a loved one. He noted that the compensation is intended to ease the emotional burden and provide some stability to the bereaved family during this tragic period.

Anil Pais was in the midst of constructing a new home, but the work had come to a halt. Initially supported by the local gram panchayat, the project now faces uncertainty. However, MLA Rajegowda has pledged to finance and complete the remaining construction using his personal resources.

Pais is survived by two school-going children enrolled in government institutions. Minister George assured that the deputy commissioner will be requested to ensure the children receive proper educational assistance moving forward.

In another sorrowful incident, George also extended financial support to the kin of Rathnakar, who was killed when a tree fell on his auto-rickshaw near Meguru Hosathota in Koppa taluk.

Taking immediate preventive measures, George directed the forest department to identify and remove trees posing danger along public roads to avoid further tragedies.
