Chamarajanagar: Residents living in the “Podu” and villages surrounding the foothills of famous Malai Mahadeshwara Betta have decided to boycott the upcoming Lok Sabha election, claiming a lack of basic amenities in the area.

Residents living in Podus and villages in Hanur taluk in the district, surrounding the foothills of the famous religious place, claim that their villages lack basic amenities. As soon as the decision of the villagers reached the deputy commissioner, the officer visited those villages and pacified the residents with assurances of fulfilling their demands.

However, the villagers, who were not satisfied with the assurances, have decided to boycott the elections until basic amenities are provided. They have expressed their determination to abstain from voting until concrete measures are taken to address the longstanding issues.

The villagers stated that while politicians have been making false promises for years, the district officials have also made similar promises, hence they have decided to take this tough stand.
