Karwar: The Karwar unit of the United India Insurance Company has settled a claim of Rs 1,02,53,104 filed by the family of the victims of an accident. This has been done based on the instructions of the court, said the senior regional manager of United India Insurance Company N Muralidhar.
On September 9, 2016, Sunil Naik from Sirsi, who was working in a medical company, was travelling on his scooter when he collided with a tanker. A seriously injured Naik soon succumbed to his injuries.
Soon after this, a case was registered against the tanker owner and the insurance claim procedures were initiated. Sirsi Higher Civil and Additional MACT Court passed the verdict in the victim’s favour and, based on the insurance value of the vehicle, the victim’s family have been compensated with this large sum of money, he informed.
