Karwar: JD(S) minority wing state secretary Munaf Mirzanker mocked the BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate Ananth Kumar Hegde for trying to woo the Muslim voters, after having said earlier in a meeting in Sirsi, that he doesn’t need the Muslim vote.

Speaking to presspersons in the Sirsi Taluk of the Uttara Kannada district, Mirzanker alleged that Ananth Kumar Hegde was going to places like Yellapura and Mundagode and requesting the Muslims to join the BJP, promising to give them various posts in the party.

He added that instead of taking up developmental work in Karwar, Hegde only made noise about non-existent issues and false allegations in spite of being a five-time MP. “The district needs a leader with a vision. Therefore, the people will support Asnotikar, who is the JD(S)- Congress alliance candidate,” he said.

Also speaking on the occasion, JD(S) minority wing district president Ilyas Ibrahim Sahib said, “The people need development. The party will face the election and win under the leadership of RV Deshpande.”

The other leaders present were Inayulla Shabandri, Sayyed Mujeeb, A K Thonse, Sayyed Kesar and Peter.
