Karwar: In a tragic accident, a BSF (Border Security Force) soldier named Duming Siddi died by falling out of a moving train at Mathura. His body reached his residence, here on Wednesday, December 5.
Duming Siddi was from Makheri village which comes under the Shirwad Gram Panchayat.
The body arrived at the district at 4 AM from the Mathura Army Hospital, which was received by an army officer and tahsildar. Later the body was handed over to the family.
Duming Siddi’s mortal remains were kept at his residence for his family members and people to pay their last respects, after which the body was buried according to the Christian rituals.
Duming was serving at the Punjab borders in Pathankot.
It is understood that he was returning home as a surprise for his son’s birthday on December 9.
He had also planned for house warming of his new home during Christmas.
On Saturday, December 1, he had contacted his wife Leena and informed her that he was returning home on holidays and would reach by Wednesday. But none of his family members had expected that he would reach home dead.
On receiving information about Siddi’s death, his wife fell unconscious. She was immediately admitted to a nearby hospital.
Duming who was serving in the BSF, was about to retire within a year and as a future plan, he had decided to construct a new home and spend rest of his life with his family there.
He used to video call and inspect the development of the construction of his new house on a daily basis.
District administration fails to respect the soldier
As Duming Siddi’s body arrived at the district, according to the protocol, the district administration was supposed to provide the Guard of Honour and pay their respects, which it failed to do.
The family members and villagers were unhappy with this attitude of the district administration.
People opined that this was not the way to pay respect to a soldier who had served the nation.
