Karwar: An elk, which had fallen into an open well accidentally, has been rescued by the forest department officials with the help of the nearby residents, in the Manki village of Honnavar, on Saturday, December 1.
The rescue operation went on for almost three hours.
The elk was out in search of food, during which a group of dogs chased it and in its attempts to save itself, fell into the well of a field belonging to Lakshman Gowda.
Lakshman immediately rung up the forest department officials. The Honnavar Forest Department officials and staff rushed to the spot and were successful in rescuing it from the well, with the cooperation of the residents.
