Karwar: There was an incident of accidental fire that hit the 2 acre Malki hill and half acre nut plantation belonging to Bhavani Hegde and M. V. Hegde of Amachimane Village under Hulekal Panchayat of Sirasi Taluk and the tree stand was completely burnt.
Crores worth assets were damaged and the farmer’s family is deeply shocked. As soon as the smoke appeared, the family members tried to douse the fire, but the burning fire spread to the old plantation where the crops were being produced and burnt the plantation.
Eyewitnesses described that the family members and locals were left helpless. The villagers have demanded that the department should provide appropriate compensation in this regard.
