Karwar: In a tragic incident, two acres of arecanut plantation was gutted in fire at Kallakai in Sirsi Taluk of the District.
It was noticed that the fire broke out at around 3.00 pm in the Hosthota of Aidalagade belonging to Madhukeshwara Ganapathy Hegde.
Arecanut saplings, trees, banana, pepper, nutmeg and other plants were gutted in fire. Though a fire brigade vehicle arrived, there was no way to go back to the arecanut plantation and efforts were made to douse the fire with the help of the villagers.
