Karwar: Govindarai Venkataramana Gaonkar, the International Athletic sports coach of Ankola taluk, has been awarded the ‘Dr Ajmer Singh Award’ by the 6th PIFF National Award-2023 selection committee for the best sports training of his life.
Govindarai, who was born in Bhavikeri, Ankola, as a student of JC College, Ankola, has trained athletes like P.T. Usha, N. Annavi, Sahana Kumari, Bobby Alvasis, Chethana Nagendra, who has won medals at the International level has a coach of the National Sports Institute (NIS) and the National Sports Authority since 1981.
