Karwar: For the first time ever, the traditional art of Halakkis of Uttara Kannada District has got an opportunity to perform the harvest dance at the Republic Day parade to be held in Delhi on January 26.
According to folk artiste Purushothama Gowda, who is leading the team, the harvest kunitha artistes of Sri Bantadeva Yuva Sangha Sanemakki of Amadalli in the Taluk reached Delhi on January 16 and practiced in the biting cold on January 17 and successfully completed the final phase on Monday January 23.
In the meantime, the team also performed well at the National level art exhibition held at the auditorium of Army’s R. R. Camp “Zenkara” and won the hearts of the people.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai was responsible for getting such an opportunity. He also thanked various public representatives and officials, including Basavaraj Bommai and MLA Rupali Naik.
Manjunatha, Sudeepa, Naveen, Abhishek, Nagendra, Vairamudi, Prashanth, Jitesh, Shailesh, Basavaraj, Lokesh, Shivaraja, Savitha, Vinutha, Nagarathna, Baby, Sudha, Chetana, Jayashree, Chintana, Sindhuja, Sonia, Dhanya and Pooja are the participants of this harvest dance troupe led by Purushothama Gowda.
