Karwar: The fuel tank of a rail was damaged resulting in leakage of the fuel. However, the presence of mind of a few passengers averted a massive mishap at Ankola in Uttara Kannada district.

The train was bound to Karwar-Bengaluru Railway Station from Shiravada in Karwar. The fuel tank of the very same rail was damaged and the officials concerned had not taken note of the same. When the rail reached Ankola, some of the passengers sitting in the last compartment sensed the problem and informed the officials.

When the officials inspected, they found leakage in the fuel tank.

Following this, the passengers in the general compartments were sifted to Madgaon-Mangaluru passenger train. The train was delayed by two hours.
