Karwar: A building labourer made attempted suicide twice by jumping into Kali river to send panic waves among the crowd before being rescued along with the one-year-old child here on March 28.
Shankar Banjar (40) along with son Tanush (1) jumped into to Kali river yesterday. Devbagh Beach resort personnel swung into action and rescued the father-son duo immediately and rushed both to a hospital.
However, Shankar escaped from the hospital devoid of clothes this morning and again jumped into the river. He swam on his own and sat on one of the piers of the bridge on National Highway 66, by threatening to jump again. He is understood to have tied some thread to his genital to ward off people.
The alert police personnel assisted by fire force personnel managed to rescue him again and admitted him to the hospital again.
Son Tanush too is recuperating at the hospital ward.
Family squabble is said to be the reason behind his suicide bid.
Chittakula Police have registered a complaint into the incident.
