Karwar: The District Crime Investigation Department and the Election Commission officers, in a joint operation on Wednesday, March 13 night, seized cash worth Rs. 5.8 Lakh being transported without supporting documents.
The cash was being transported in a KSRTC bus. It is reported that the cash belongs to Mahesh Shetty, a grocery shop owner in Karwar. The cash was being transported from Ankola to Karwar.
The officers raided the bus based on a tip-off received by their sources.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Shetty has said that he would be providing documents to the authorities as the money was collected from Ankola for business purposes.
