Karwar: In yet another controversial remark, Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hegade has questioned how a man born to a Muslim father can carry ‘Gandhi’ as his surname.
Addressing the party workers’ meet in Bhatkal, Hegade launched an attack on the Gandhi family and said, “They are asking for proofs on surgical strike.
The entire world has acknowledged the fact but a few here want proofs. In that case, someone born to a Muslim father and a Christian mother is claiming to be a Brahmin, and also a Gandhi. Will they give proofs for this.” Hegade was indirectly talking about Rahul Gandhi as he went on to recall the blasts in which former PM Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated.
Hegde said that when Rajiv’s dead body could not be identified and when the authorities requested a DNA test, Sonia Gandhi had suggested to take samples from Priyanka Gandhi and not from Rahul Gandhi. “I have evidence to back this,” he claimed.
Talking about the upcoming polls, Hegade said that Modi has changed the way the world looks at India. He further said that the Congress is staging all gimmicks to win the polls, but people will teach them a lesson.
