Karwar: A young woman committed suicide by lying on a railway track here on Friday, September 7. The incident occurred at Manki of Honnavar taluk of the Uttarkannada district.
The deceased has been identified as Malina Gowda (23), a resident of Vadageri in the Honnavar Taluk.
It is learnt that Malina was lying on the track when the Ernakulam-Pune Purna Express passed through that way. The woman’s body was completely destroyed in the incident, according to sources.
Malina was working in Mangaluru and had returned to her native two weeks ago. The reason behind her suicide is still unknown.
A case has been registered with the Manki police.
