Kasaragod: A gang threatened drivers with revolvers and abducted two lorries at Miyapadavu on Wednesday February 22 and four persons were arrested in an operation carried out by the Police over a period of hours.
A pistol, four live cartridges and a car have been seized from them. Around 6.00 pm on Wednesday, a gang at Meeyapadavu Bejja threatened two quarry lorry drivers with pistols for hafta collection, dragged them down from the lorry and robbed them of their mobile phones and cash. Trucks have been hijacked.
Manjeshwar Police, who received a tip-off about the incident, launched an operation and managed to nab the two when they tried to flee leaving two lorries near Paivalike Kommamgala while they were chasing them.
The police later seized the car and arrested two persons who were in it.
The arrested have been identified as Rakesh Kishore (25) of Nasik in Maharashtra, Hyder Ali (22) of Sonkal, Sayaf (22) of Paivalike Kalai and Mohammad Safwan (23) of Meeyapadavu.
Police said two others, including Abdul Rahim of Meeyapadvu, are on the run.
