Kasargod: The rule for those entering Dakshina Kannada district from Kerala to get mandatory RT – PCR test report done from Kerala itself has been opposed by activists from here. The activists of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) protested on the highway blocking traffic at the Kerala border near Talapady in Mangaluru on Monday August 2.
The IUML and SDPI activists shouted slogans against the Karnataka government, and blocked the vehicles moving from Karnataka to Kerala for over half an hour.
Earlier, those who came to Karnataka from Kerala were allowed to enter the district on showing RT – PCR Negative Report, Corona Vaccine Certificate or were asked to take the RT-PCR test on the spot. But now the test has been cancelled and we have been asked to bring RT – PCR negative report when we come from Kerala itself. Only those who have brought a negative report are admitted to the district. The protestors demanded that the decision be withdrawn immediately.
However, the Manjeshwar police who arrived at the spot persuaded the protesters to withdraw the protest.
