Kasaragod: In the Lok Sabha election Kasaragod LS constituency, which voted in the third phase has recorded a polling percentage of 80.57 per cent.
Out of the total 13,60,827 voters, 10,90,421 voters cast their votes.
Voting continued till 9 pm in some polling stations.
The voting time was extended until 6 pm initially. Since there were people standing in the queue even after the stipulated time and with complaints in the voting machines voting had progressed at a very slow pace in some polling booths, continuing till 9 pm.
Women outnumbered men in voting percentage. The voting percentage has increased in Kasargod constituency when compared to 2014 LS polls.
In Manjeshwar, legislative assembly constituency polling percentage has decreased even in this election.
Payyannur legislative assembly recorded the highest polling of 85.82 per cent and Manjeshwar recorded the lowest polling percentage of 74.94 per cent.
The voting percentage was above 80 per cent in CPM strongholds.
Votes will be counted on May 23. After the election, the political parties are calculating the winning and losing numbers.
