Kundapur: In a shameful incident, 3-4 days old male calves were left in the forest to die by strangers in Alageddkeri near Yarkone of Herur village in Byndur taluk.
About 10 to 12 male calves belonging to the hybrid species were brought in a vehicle by unknown persons and left in the middle of the rocks of Alageddkeri near Yarkone. Locals estimate that the calves were born just two to three days ago.
The heartless people have done the act to avoid rearing the male calves of the hybrid species as they have no value. Two calves have died out of hunger, a shameful scene in the land of cow protectors.
Jayaprakash Shetty, a local teacher, said that while he was returning from school, he heard the cries of the calves and when he went inside the rubble, the matter came to light.
2 calves have died without food or water. Some of the calves were relieved from hunger and the locals gave them water and treated them with grass. It is painful that such incidents have happened in the land of intellectuals.
Byndur Veterinarian Nagaraj treated the calves.
Nagesh Yarkone, a local, tied up the calves in his house and took care of the calves temporarily by giving them water and grass.
With the cooperation of people’s representatives and Vishwa Hindu Parishad and locals, steps were taken to send the cows to Goshala.
