Karwar: Lashing unseasonal rains in Uttara Kannada District in last four days have proved to be harmful for paddy crops in the region.
It is a common scene to witness inundated paddy fields with crops ready for harvesting but harmed completely due to being submerged in water. Even harvested crops are inundated in water.Further, the rains that has hit the District beginning Tuesday November 16 has acted as an impediment to crop loss survey in the region.
In Honnavar Taluk, paddy crops in 453.66 Hectares has been harmed while in Siddapura Taluk, Ankola Taluk, Kumta Taluk, Sirsi Taluk, Joida Taluk, and Yellapuea Taluk – 194.50 hectares, 57.48 hectares, 82 hectares, 4.46 hectares, 0.46 hectares, and 2.40 hectares, respectively has been destroyed.
