‘Karavali Janapada Jaathre’ to be held on February 28

Mangaluru: District unit general secretary of Karnataka Janapada Parishad, Lakshmish Suvarna announced that ‘Karavali Janapada Jaathre’ will be organised at Town Hall on February 28.

At a press meet conducted here, Lakshmish said that a procession of Karavali Janapada Jaathre, which will be carried out from Nehru Maidan to Town Hall, will be inaugurated by mayor Diwakar Pandeshwar. An exhibition organised along with the programme will be inaugurated by deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra.

He further explained that the formal function will be inaugurated by minister for Kannada and Culture Aravind Limbavali, Tulu language script novel Madheera written by Lakshmish Shetty will be released by district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, minister for fisheries S Angara, and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.

“The formal function will be presided over by Thimmegowda. State president of Karnataka Janapada Parishad, Sri Sacchidananda Bharathi of Yedaneeru Math, MLAs Vedavyasa Kamath, Dr Bharath Y Shetty and U T Khader, MLCs Harish Kumar and B M Farooq, Dr M Mohan Alva, president of Alva’s Educational Institutions, Dr R K Shetty, Mumbai president of Karnataka Janapada Parishad, and former minister Krishna J Palemar will grace the occasion,” he said. “After the formal function, Tulu folk scholars Bannanje Babu Amin, Mahendranath Salethur and K K Pejawara will be felicitated and cultural event and Tulunada Vaibhava will be held.”

He also informed that in the closing ceremony, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president of District Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Dayanand Katthalsar, president of Tulu Sahitya Academy, Raheem Ucchil, president of Beary Sahitya Academy, Dr Pradeep Pai, president of Konkani Sahitya Academy, and Joylous D’Souza, president of Christian Development Authority and others will take part.

Karnataka Janapada Parishad district unit president Praveen Kodialbail, treasurer Tharnath Shetty Bolar, Arun Ullal and others were present.
