‘Mangaluru Dasara 2017′ to begin with gaiety and fervour from Sep 21

Mangaluru: The “Mangaluru Dasara 2017” at Kudroli Shree Gokarnanatha Kshetra will commence from September 21 and go on till October 1.

Addressing the media on September 18, former union minister B Janardhan Poojary said, “Mangaluru Dasara is well-known across the country. People from various parts of the country take part in the celebration. For this season, the preparation for Dasara are on in full swing. Celebrations will commence with the installation of the idols of the Goddess Sharada and Navadurgas at 12.20 AM on September 21. Daily poojas and other rituals will be performed to the idols of Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kooshmandini, Siddhidatri, Mahakali, Mahagowri, Kathyayini, Skanda Mata, Adishakti, Shailaputri and Ganapathi. There will be (Mahannasantharpana) mass feeding during the occasion.”

Cultural programmes by well-known artistes from across the state will be held in the premises of the temple from 6 pm onwards.

More than 75 tableaux will participate in the procession this year. The Dasara procession will traverse across Kudroli-Ladyhill-Lalbagh-Ballalbagh-Kodialbail-Hampankatte-University College-Ganapathi High School Road-Car Street-Chitra Talkies and later culminate after the immersion of idols in the temple pond at around 4 AM on October 1.
