Mangaluru: In a sarcastic jibe at the government, MLA UT Khadar urged the center to implement ‘one nation, one anti cow slaughter law’ as implemented in Karnataka.
Speaking to News Karnataka, he said that the idea of ‘one nation, one election’ already exists hence anti-cow slaughter law should also be implemented for the entire nation. “The government should have a clarity on what they are trying to implement on the people,” he said.
“During the time of Indira Gandhi, we had the same problem of cow slaughter but that was resolved by a law passed by her for the whole nation to only allow slaughtering of buffaloes above the age of thirteen,” he said. But this government has only implemented laws for some parts of the nation, he added.
He accused that the law keeps changing from state to state depending upon the election propaganda. “Just for the sake of votes and elections, the government is showing double standards by not creating a policy for the whole nation,” he stated.
“There are more than 10 major beef export companies in the state itself and if the government value cows so much then they should ban export of beef in the whole country,” he opined.
He also stated that the farmers are at a loss with this law and hence the government should give money to them and purpose the cattle from them.
“The Cattle Bhagya Scheme, implemented by the Congress, which gave cattle for free, have been stopped now,” he said. If you wish to maintain the population of cows then this scheme should be implemented again, he stated.
