Mangaluru: A total of 2000 food kits from state government, meant for flood victims have arrived to Dakshina Kannada district and district administration has taken all appropriate measures to distribute it to the victims on Sunday, August 11.
Each food kit consists of 10 kgs of rice, one each kg of dal, sugar, salt and oil. Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner S Sasikanth Senthil has asked Tahsildars of every taluk to receive the kits and disburse it to the victims.
Meanwhile, Senthil has asked officials to clear the roads immediately, which are blocked by landslides and uprooting of trees due to incessant rains. He also assured of providing proper compensation to the families, whose houses have been damaged.
The flash flood, which was reported in many areas especially in Bantwal taluk, have subsided on Sunday. However, those shifted to gruel centres (Ganji Kendras) are yet to shift to their houses.
