Mangaluru: In a tragic incident, a 29-year-old allegedly committed suicide on Friday, January 3 morning by jumping off the Nethravathi Bridge in Ullal.
The incident occurred at 7.30 AM, approximately two hours after which his body was recovered by police near the Kotepura beach, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Ullal police station.
The youth has been identified as Navesh Kottary, a tent house rental owner. It is not yet known why he took the extreme step.
According to police, Kottary, a resident of Ullal, left his house on his motorbike early in the morning, stopped at the bridge and jumped into the river below.
Kottary’s body was taken to a private hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered in the Ullal police station.
This is the first such incident to be reported this year.
