6-ft-long crocodile found in rubber plantation at Belthangady, rescued

Mangaluru: In an operation, the Forest Department officials along with locals rescued a six-feet-long crocodile found by rubber plantation workers in a brook at Kadirudyavara Village of Belthangady Taluk of Dakshina Kannada District on Sunday December 5.

It was around 11.00 am on Sunday December 5 that the workers of rubber plantation owned by Sadashiva of Kanarpa, Kudhooru of the village spotted a crocodile in a brook at the plantation. The workers soon alerted the Forest Department officials. The Department officials who sprung into action rescued the huge reptile in a swift operation along with the help of locals by using a net.

The officials said that the crocodile will be handed over either to Pilikula or let off to National Park after being treated if it is hurt.
