Mangaluru: The 67-year-old neighbour of the two women who succumbed to COVID-19 over a week ago, died on Thursday, April 30 evening.

It can be recalled that the 67-year-old woman and her daughter, both tested positive for COVID-19 after the 50-year-old woman from the Kasba village in the Dakshina Kannada district’s Bantwal taluk passed away due to the deadly infection. She was the first COVID-19 death reported from the district.

The 67-year-old woman and her daughter are neighbours of the 50-year-old woman and were admitted to the Wenlock Hospital after they tested positive for COVID-19.

It can also be recalled that the 67-year-old woman was in critical condition and was being treated in the ICU.

With this, the COVID-19 death toll of the district has risen to three.

It can be noted that the district administration has already declared the Boloor electric crematorium as the official cremation site for COVID-19 victims. It is likely that the woman’s last rites will be held here.
