Kasargod: A team of police officers nabbed a man based on a tip off and seized 87kgs of sandalwood logs from him. Native of Badiyadka, PM Hameed(43) is now in the custody of Vidyanagar police.
Based on a tip off the police intercepted Hameed before he could alight a private bus on July 13 and seized a consignment of sandalwood weighing 11kgs. During interrogation he revealed the name of his associate Ibrahim. Immediately police rushed to Ibrahim’s house in Chengala and seized another consignment weighing 76 kgs.
However police are on the lookout for Ibrahim, who is absconding.
Two lakh worth of IMFL and Pan Masala seized
Excise sleuths have nabbed three persons of Uttar Pradesh origin and seized a consignment containing Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and banned pan masala packets.
The arrested persons are Vinod Kumar (27), Munna (27) and Anil Kumar Patel (35) all residents of Indiranagar in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh.
After receiving a tip off that lot of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) is being transported to Kerala, the excise sleuths intensified search operations. While checking the consignments in the KSRTC bus in the wee hours of the morning on July 15th the police found parcels containing IMFL and Pan Masala. The trio admitted that the consignment belonged to them and they were on their way to Kannur. The bus was on the way to Kottarakkara from Kollur in Karnataka when it was intercepted at Adkathbail by the excise search team.
The excise sleuth managed to seize two lakh worth IMFL and 3296 packets of pan masala from the trio. The search team was led by Circle Inspector K Karthikeyan and ably assisted by other excise officials and staff members.
