Sullia: Amid pandemonium 725 families received property rights under 94C scheme in a citizen connect program organized by the district administration.
Large number of people gathered with a list of demands seeking solution from elected representatives and district administration officials including the deputy commissioner. The program was inaugurated by MLA Angara in the presence of Deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada A B Ibrahim and other elected representatives and government officials.

In the beginning the program failed to offer suitable solutions to the multiple pleas of citizens. However peace prevailed after action was assured on solving serious issues troubling the citizens in the region in the presence of concerned department officials.

Their demand was to find a solution to the solid waste disbursal in Sullia town. The villagers contended that the waste water from the solid waste management plant at Kalcharpe near Alletty village was causing water contamination resulting in air and water borne diseases in many parts of the taluk and wanted the officials and elected representatives to find a solution. They said that even the carcasses thrown had made living difficult for people residing in the area. Only after assurance from the town chief officer who was summoned by the ZP CEO Srividaya, that an alternative site will be used for solid waste treatment, the people gathered around calmed down.

In addition losses to state transport buses due to private vans operating between Kolchar and Bandadka, difficulties in monthly ration distribution at Kolchar and Arambur, road development works near Sullia junior college and Pymbechal was also raised during the meeting. In addition encroachment of anganawadi land at Subramanya and non availability of property rights to over 50 families at Jalsoorpadav also came up for discussion during the meeting.

However by the end, over 60 applications concerned to different government departments were disposed on the occasion. The meeting was attended by ZP president Meenakshi Shanthigodu, State social welfare board president Divyaprabha Chilthadka, TP President Chaniya Kalthadka, Sullia TMC president Prakash Hegde, ZP members and government officials. Puttur additional commissioner Dr K V Rajendra welcomed the gathering and the vote of thanks at the end program was proposed by Sullia Tahsildar B Anathshankar.
