Mangaluru: A J Hospital, through its Surgical Gastroenterology Department, is launching an exclusive Obesity Clinic on Saturday, January 19. It is the first-of-its-kind in the coastal region of the state, which will exclusively cater to the needs of the obese population.
The Obesity Clinic at A J Hospital will comprise of a multi-disciplinary team of bariatric surgeons Dr. Rohan Shetty and Dr. Ashwin Alva, gastroenterologists Dr. B. Shivaprasad and Dr. Raghavendra Prasada, endocrinologist Dr. Ganesh H K, dietician, psychologist and physiotherapist. It will be a state of the art clinic dealing with detailed evaluation, medical and surgical treatment and rehabilitation.
Obesity is a new age health disorder which has attained epidemic proportions in the world, causing a huge socio-economic burden on society. It is the reason for a lot of health problems such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, joint problems and cancer.
