Bantwal: Abdul Rehman, accused in Candle Santhu alias Santhosh murder case that took place in 2009, was caught trying to escape to Saudi Arabia at the Cochin International Airport on Feb 24. The accused had been absconding for the last seven years and even failed to appear before the court for the hearing of the case.
Rehman had availed bail from the court after he was arrested. On Saturday, Feb 24, immigration officers received a tip that Rehman was attempting to leave the country to Saudi Arabia via Cochin International Airport. They immediately nabbed him at the airport and seized his baggage and handed him over to the Bantwal Police.
It may be recalled that Candle Santhu was murdered on February 18, 2009 near Polali.
